Head & Neck Conditions
Head and neck pain are among the most common ailments that interfere with quality of life. Headache, stiffness in the neck, sinusitis and chronic sore throat can be the result of simple over exertion, infection or a more serious problem such as cancer.
Concussion is one of the most serious head conditions, which is very dangerous and sometimes fatal if undetected. MRI and CT scans are used to assess the extent of the damage and to also confirm that all of the injury has healed. This is important in the case of athletes who are under pressure to return to active status. As in all head injuries, timing is vital. Delaying diagnosis and treatment can result in permanent brain damage.
Diagnostic imaging is often used to rule out or confirm the presence of cancer but is also used to pinpoint the source of pain as in the case of jaw pain called TMJ. Arthritis in the cervical spine can be a cause of head or neck pain, particularly in the case of rheumatoid arthritis.
Advanced imaging is available to confirm the presence of absence of a disease or trauma, thereby removing the risk of further injury or death.
