Musculoskeletal Injuries
Musculoskeletal pain affects muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones as opposed to pain emanating from joints. This is caused by trauma to an area caused by an accident, sports injury, falls, dislocations, sprains or fractures. Poor posture, repetitive movements and work related strain can cause misalignment resulting in pain.
X-rays are most effective for diagnosing fractures and bone abnormalities. CT scans, MRI and Ultrasound offer a more accurate picture of soft tissue trauma, while a Dual-Energy X-Ray is the most accurate way to determine bone density. This is the test to determine if osteoporosis exists and if so, the extent of the bone loss. It is also used to predict the chance of fracture in these patients.
